Beacon for Hope Director Melissa Owen is quite pleased with how the Art Inspired by Hope event transpired Friday.
The art show took place inside the Granada Theatre as part of the August First Friday event in downtown Emporia. Owen says art is a great way for people who may be struggling to express themselves.
Owen says even she was surprised by some of the art submitted — and that’s not a bad thing.
In all, 20 artists brought 24 pieces of artwork, including glass, turned wood, sketches, paintings and other forms of art.
Now Beacon for Hope looks ahead to two main events, the Hope Links Us Together Suicide Prevention Walk at the Bowyer Building on Sept. 18 and the Unmasking Suicide Masquerade Ball on Nov. 6, also at the Bowyer Building. More information about both events is available online at www.hopelinks.org.
