The Kansas City Royals waited out a 2-hour 10-minute rain delay and left St. Louis with a 6-5 win Sunday.
St. Louis scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game at 5. In the top of the 9th rain moved in causing a 2 hour 10 rain delay. Jarrod Dyson would break the tie scoring on a Nicky Lopez single.
Richard Lovelady pitched a 1-2-3 9th to seal the win and earn his first save.
The Royals return to Kansas City to begin a 3 game series with the New York Yankees. Carlos Hernandez will be the starting pitcher with the first pitch set for 7:10 pm.
