Law enforcement have safely located a missing Chanute child after a statewide Amber Alert was issued Wednesday afternoon.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation announced via Twitter just before 5 pm that six-year-old Nina R. Senkbeil had been located and is safe. According to the KBI, local information led authorities to a residence in Fall River in Greenwood County where they found Senkbeil.
Senkbeil’s father, 32-year-old Jakob Senkbeil, has been arrested after he reportedly abducted the child from a supervised visitation at Santa Fe Park in Chanute around 10:30 am Wednesday.
Around 12:15 pm, Nina and Jakob were seen at 17515 Oak Wood Lane in Fall River where Jakob Senkbeil reportedly made comments to a witness that led law enforcement to believe Nina was in “imminent danger.” Authorities located Jakob Senkbeil’s black 2004 Jeep Cherokee in Fall River just before 4:30 pm, shortly after which time it was announced both individuals had been located.
Word on charges against Jakob Senkbeil is currently pending.

Kansas residents are asked to be on the lookout for a missing Chanute child.
A statewide Amber Alert has been issued for six-year-old Nina R. Senkbeil of Chanute who was reported missing Wednesday afternoon. Authorities have identified Nina’s father, 32-year-old Jakob Senkbeil, as the abductor.
According to information on the KSAmber website, Nina was reportedly taken by her father from Santa Fe Park in Chanute during a supervised visitation around 10:30 am. Around 12:15 pm, Nina and Jakob were seen at 17515 Oak Wood Lane in Fall River where Jakob Senkbeil reportedly made comments to a witness that has led law enforcement to believe Nina is in “imminent danger.”
Jakob Senkbeil is a white male 5’9″ tall with brown hair, blue eyes and was last seen wearing a green shirt with blue jeans and a blue and orange baseball cap. Nina Senkbeil was last seen wearing a white Tweetie Bird shirt with blue and white Nike shorts and pink and black Nike shoes.
Jakob Senkbeil is believed to be driving a black 2004 Jeep Cherokee with the license plate number 852FGX.
