The New York Yankees outscored the Kansas City Royals 5-2 Wednesday afternoon.
The Royals offense struggled they were just 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position.
Whit Merrifield was 3-for-4 with his 33rd stolen base of the season, tying Carlos Beltran (1999-2001) for most consecutive stolen bases without being caught in franchise history. But Merrifield was thrown out going for his 34th straight in the seventh.
The Yankees won the series 2 games to 1.
Last night the Royals defeated the Yankees 8-4. Salvador Perez hit 2 home runs to lead the offense.
The Royals will be off Thursday then begin a weekend series against St. Louis Friday.
