The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is hitting the road for COVID-19 vaccinations and tests.
KDHE has announced a partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas and the Kansas Turnpike Authority to offer free testing and vaccination clinics at three service areas, including the one outside Matfield Green. Clinics will be available to both Kansans and out-of-state travelers.
The goal, according to KDHE, is to make the COVID-19 vaccine more accessible and offer further protection for everybody, especially in light of the delta variant, which is at least twice as infective as the original strain and spreads more quickly in areas with low vaccination rates.
The Matfield Green service exit is at mile marker 97, 30 miles southwest of Emporia. Hours for the free testing and vaccinations are 7 am to 6 pm Thursday and Friday.
