As cleanup continues outside Coach’s Grill and Bar after Saturday’s devastating fire, investigations continue into the cause and origination point. Other investigations will commence in the near future.
The better than 3,500-square-foot building was constructed in 1971 and had a Mexican restaurant and pizzeria before Coach’s came to be. Flinthills Mall Manager Clarence Frye:
Flinthills Mall, LLC, owns the property, and Frye says insurance investigators could be on site soon to start determining how to proceed.
Fire erupted early Saturday, destroying everything inside and collapsing a significant part of the roof while leaving the brick walls standing. Firefighters are working to determine the cause and origination point, although the early indications pointed to the grill area as the ignition point. It took over two hours to get the fire out. A final report could be issued Tuesday or Wednesday.
Frye says business owners Brett Kessler and Sara Schnakenberg have a lot of community support as they decide how to proceed.
Meanwhile, cleanup is ongoing outside the business. Frye says crews are focusing on the insulation, which washed down to some nearby storm sewer inlets on the south side of the property, and with scattered rainfall in the forecast, the goal is to avoid clogging those inlets if at all possible.
