Classes begin Thursday for USD 252 Southern Lyon County, and the Board of Education will discuss COVID-19 mitigation plans during its regular meeting Monday night.
Late last month, the board approved a tentative game plan to have optional mask use and social distancing in certain settings — with an eye towards potential adjustments right before school starts. COVID-19 numbers were close to steady at the end of July but have spiked throughout August so far.
In other business, board members will discuss transportation matters, a bond restructuring plan and school safety items. Board members will also offer formal recognition for the district’s Food Service department for receiving the Kansas State Department of Education’s Kansans Can Award for Outstanding Customer Service.
The meeting starts at 7 pm at the board’s meeting room in Hartford.
