It now appears it will be at least Thursday, and possibly longer, before Emporia Fire announces the results of its ongoing investigation into the Coach’s Grill and Bar fire this past weekend.
Fire investigators are still sifting through the wreckage after the fire destroyed everything inside the 40-year-old building and collapsed at least part of the roof. This means there is a chance the fire investigation could overlap the start of the insurance investigation designed to figure out whether the brick walls remain standing.
The fire was reported before sunrise Saturday. Emporia and Americus firefighters worked better than two hours to get the fire out. Nobody was hurt. Firefighters are still determining where the fire started and how it started.
