Court proceedings are underway for Brice Obermeyer, an Emporia man recently accused of rape.
Obermeyer, 46, had his first appearance Tuesday in Lyon County District Court. He was charged in late July for alleged activity with a person in their early 50s. He’s now charged with rape, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated burglary, lewd and lascivious conduct and other counts after a roughly two-week investigation by Emporia Police. The affidavit in the case is currently sealed.
Obermeyer was set for a preliminary hearing at 9:30 am Sept. 15, although defense attorney Sal Intagliata is already considering a delay request to get more familiar with the case. Other court dates will be set as the process continues.
