The Emporia-Lyon County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals don’t have a lot on their agenda for their monthly meeting Tuesday, but they have three important items to address.
Red Brick Investments, the group seeking to bring a travel plaza to the area just southwest of US Highway 50 and Graphic Arts, has requested a final plat of what’s being called the Brownstone Addition Subdivision to move that process along. The better than 30-acre development is designed to bring restaurants, hotels, an RV park and strip mall to the property.
Separately, Emporia Enterprises has asked to rezone about 90 unplatted acres of land including 1501 East Logan, 1503 East Logan and 1201 South Weaver from Agricultural to I-1 Light Industrial to account for potential development near Industrial Park 3. Last month, city commissioners returned the item to the Planning Commission after the board recommended denial on a 6-1 vote in May, following concerns about buffering and no immediate project on the table.
In addition, board members will continue their review of the proposed city zoning regulations.
The meeting is at 6 pm at the Municipal Court Room.
