A new business has announced plans to expand into Emporia.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly says Communications Solutions, LLC, will create 250 jobs. Kelly says Communications Solutions provides business-to-business and business-to-consumer call center services. It will buy a facility to create a new call center as it handles growing customer demand and it has started the hiring process.
Emporia was chosen in part due to an agreement with Evergy, which is providing electricity to the company at the former Fusion Connect building, 1301 Chestnut.
The announcement from Communications Solutions comes less than a month after Fusion announced it was selling the property. Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas President Kent Heermann tells KVOE News Fusion adjusted its business model with most of its local personnel working remotely, meaning it didn’t need the amount of space available on Chestnut. Fusion/Birch, which has around 80 employees based on the RDA’s annual business survey, still has office space in Emporia used mainly for meetings and other gatherings, although the company has not said where its local operations have moved. Meanwhile, CSLLC uses a more traditional business model and was keenly interested in buying the property and many items inside the building.
KVOE News has reached out to Communications Solutions for comment. Executive Vice President Tony Ridenour says Emporia “will be a key part of our organization as we continue to respond to an overwhelming request from our clients to grow due to the proven history we bring of quality performance.”
Communication Solutions is headquartered in Springfield, Missouri, and has call centers in Springfield; Joplin, Missouri; Neosho, Missouri; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Miami, Oklahoma. The company does not specify its client base but mentions it has partnerships with numerous Fortune 500 companies.
