Most of the KVOE listening area will be in a heat advisory for Friday afternoon and early evening.
Lyon, Chase, Greenwood, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties are included from 1-7 pm. Air temperatures could be in the mid-90s, with high humidity pushing the heat index readings as high as 103-107.
Residents need to spend as much time as possible in air conditioning or shade. Light, loose-fitting clothes should be worn, be sure to drink lots of water and check in on the young, the elderly and pets.
The heat will be broken temporarily by an advancing cold front, which will also give us a chance of severe weather Friday evening. Right now, the Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk areawide for all hazards, although the main concerns are wind and hail.
We’ll keep you updated on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
