If kids across the KVOE listening area are excited to get back to school, the same can be said of their teachers and staff.
Building principals joined the monthly KVOE Showcase this week to talk about the start of the school year. First-year principal Joy McGhee at Maynard Early Childhood Center says the building is just about full as the school year starts.
Representing Emporia’s elementary schools, Village Principal John Martin says “there’s nothing like the first day” of school.
Emporia Middle School Principal Steven Bazan says incoming students can expect a lot of help available, whether from faculty, staff or peer students.
Emporia High Principal Dathan Fischer says staffers are glad students will be face-to-face at the start of the semester.
On the coronavirus response front, the district has mandatory mask use in buildings and transportation. Residents attending athletic or extracurricular events will also need masks, although athletes themselves won’t need masks in non-contact settings.
