The Emporia State football team received a boost from the students at Monday nights practice.
Several students even had the chance to call plays for the offense and defense.
There was relays and skills competition.
Coach Garin Higgins said it was good to have the Students at practice.
The most experienced position offensively for the Hornets is the receiver spot. They return 4 of the 6 receivers from 2019.
Junior Cole Schumacher led the team with 44 catches.
Sophomore Wil Amos led the team with 491 receiving yards.
Sophomore Dexton Swinehart was the third-leading receiver.
Junior Corey Thomas returns after missing most of 2019 due to injuries.
Jaylen Varner a transfer from Missouri, where he was a defensive back, is also working to earn playing time.
Kai Lemons and Colton Hower are the only senior receivers. 13 of the 17 receivers are either freshmen or sophomores.
