Flint Hills Community Health Center will be searching for a new Medical Clinic Director following the resignation of Dr. Vanessa Cook.
Dr. Cook’s resignation was announced by CEO Renee Hively during the FHCHC monthly board meeting Tuesday afternoon. Hively says they will begin the search for the new director immediately with the job notice and marketing ads “going out” Tuesday.
Dr. Cook assumed her role as Medical Clinic Director back in June of last year taking over from then interim director Dr. Melanie Byram following the retirement of Dr. James Fast in December of 2019.
Hively says an interim director has yet to be named, however:
In other business, the board approved a new public comment policy for the health center’s social media pages. According to Hively, over the past year the health center and Lyon County Public Health have received a number of “inappropriate” comments on its social media pages.
The new policy will allow the health center to monitor and remove any comments that are found to be harassing, defamatory, hostile or vulgar. A handful of administrators at the health center will the authority to monitor and remove any comments that fall under any of the aforementioned descriptions.
Hively says she is anticipating some pushback to the new policy, however, it was drafted based on the public comment policy from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The policy can be found on the health center’s website.
Separately, the monthly financial report showed a net gain of just over $25,000 for the month of July bringing the year-to-date net gain to $370,000.
The FHCHC Board of Directors will reconvene on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at noon via Zoom.
