The annual “You Drink, You Drive, You Lose” campaign is underway through the Labor Day weekend. Emporia Police Capt. Ray Mattas says it makes sense to have the annual campaign taking place around Labor Day.
Officers sign up for extra shifts to take part. The campaign is funded by grants from the Kansas Department of Transportation. While drunk driving has traditionally been the main focus of traffic enforcement programs, officers will also look for drug-related DUI activity and distracted driving.
