Expansion work is starting in earnest at the Emporia Pavilions.
Marshall’s, Ross Dress for Less and Shoe Show will join Hobby Lobby at 24th and Industrial, and preliminary dirt work is now underway after Emporia city commissioners approved a five-year, $100,000 forgivable loan to help the site development work last week. Developer Spencer Thomson tells KVOE News the companies coming to Emporia have demonstrated stability in some unstable times.
Now that the new businesses were announced two weeks ago, Thomson says one to three other businesses could be announced within the next two months. There are several pad sites on the south side of the property designed for restaurants, and those are actively being marketed.
Thomson expects upwards of 100 new jobs and millions of dollars in tax revenue to benefit the city of Emporia, Lyon County and USD 253 Emporia.
