One suspect in a shooting and home invasion robbery from last fall will be spending more than two decades in prison following sentencing in Lyon County District Court Friday morning.
Lance Sutton was sentenced to 206 months — just over 17 years– in prison with 36 months of post-release supervision by Judge John Sanders after being convicted of aggravated robbery with a dangerous weapon earlier this year. Sutton was also sentenced to 38 months — just over three years — in prison on one count of aggravated burglary and was ordered to pay restitution of $6,550 which he will split with his co-defendant in the case Kenneth Hopkins who was sentenced to 29 months in prison for his involvement back in July.
Sutton’s sentences will be served consecutively.
A third suspect, Marcos Diaz, was captured in another county roughly a month ago according to Emporia Police Cpt. Lisa Hayes and is awaiting extradition back to Lyon County at this time. Further details have not been released.
All three were sought in connection to a shooting incident at Linn and Whildin, followed soon after by a robbery at 9 South Rural.
