Local law enforcement was involved in its second vehicle pursuit in as many days early Saturday morning.
Lyon County Sheriff’s Sgt. Zach Shafer says a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle in the 100 block of West 13th Ave. in Emporia shortly before 12:30 am for a reported traffic infraction. The vehicle supposedly failed to yield and a pursuit ensued with speeds reportedly reaching upwards of 45 mph.
The vehicle eventually became disabled at Oxford and Morningside with the driver, identified as 18-year-old Ian Isahi Soto of Emporia, being arrested on charges of felony flee and elude, driving under the influence and a host of traffic infractions. Formal charges are pending.
The Emporia Police Department and Emporia State University Police and Safety assisted in the chase.
