One of Emporias own, the late J.L. Lewis was enshrined into the Kansas Golf Hall of Fame Saturday night in a ceremony held at the Emporia Country Club where he got his start playing golf.
J.L. played in 474 PGA Tour events. He had 2 first-place finishes, the John Deere Classic in 1999 and the 84 Lumber Classic in 2003.
He also established a teaching academy and promoted youth golf.
Dawn Lewis, his wife, said J.L. would have been proud of his induction into the Kansas Golf Hall of Fame.
J.L. lost a 9 year battle with cancer in 2019.
