Area veterans are encouraged to get their COVID-19 vaccinations through upcoming drive-thru clinics starting next week.
Spokesman Joseph Burks says the process will start Sept. 7 at the Topeka campus and Sept. 20 at the Leavenworth campus. Drive-thru options will also be available at community-based clinics in September and October.
Veterans can call 800-574-8387 ext. 53243 for information about mandatory precautions if they want to the COVID-19 drive-thru clinics. They can also call 800-587-8387 ext. 54453 if they want to schedule a vaccination.
In making this announcement, Burks also advised veterans flu shots will not be available on a walk-in basis this year because of the ongoing presence of COVID-19. However, veterans who schedule appointments with their providers can receive flu shots while in the clinic or at any primary care, behavioral health or specialty health clinic. Flu vaccines for veterans will be available through March 31
