Downtown Emporia will be filled with a wide range of musical genres as the annual Halfway to Everywhere Music and Arts Festival makes its long-awaited return Saturday.
The second event will take over downtown Emporia through the afternoon and evening hours with a stacked lineup of local and national talents. Organizer Hank Osterhout says despite some changes to the schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the day’s activities will be largely unchanged with the festival beginning at noon.
In addition to being an exciting, music-filled day Osterhout says it will also be very emotional as several performances will pay tribute to a beloved member of the local music scene who tragically passed last month. Max Byram was a member of the Box Turtles, a popular local band based out of Council Grove, who performed at the inaugural Halfway to Everywhere event in 2019.
Byram sadly died in mid-August after a motorcycle accident that also claimed the life of Jordan Kelley. Osterhout says Byram was a passionate, one-of-a-kind performer.
General admission to the festival is completely free to the public, however, VIP are available at $150 each and include dinner, drink vouchers, a tee shirt and poster and a canvas tote.
