The September rendition of Emporia’s First Friday Art Walk is coming — well, Friday — and there will be a special component to the event this time.
Residents attending the Art Walk are encouraged to help create a community mural, as longtime organizer Kaila Mock explains:
The mural will serve as the entrance to the Emporia First Friday Art Market at Saturday’s Halfway to Everywhere music and arts festival, and Mock says it could make an appearance at every Art Walk down the road. It hasn’t been decided whether it will be repainted for the monthly event.
Thirteen artists are locked in for Friday’s Art Walk. Kansas Free for Arts is the presenting venue and will be located at the Farmers Market parking lot. Other information about the First Friday Art Walk is online at www.emporiafirstfriday.com.
