A patriotic exhibit is on display at the Emporia Public Library now through the end of the month.
The educational exhibition titled “September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World” consists of 14 posters comprised of photographs, images and artifacts detailing the impacts and implications of 9/11 through the personal stories of witnesses and survivors. The exhibition is a part of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum’s efforts to explore the consequences of the terror attacks that rocked the nation 20-years-ago and its impacts at the local, national and international levels.
Library Director Robin Newell says the library is extremely proud to be a part of the educational effort. She adds that the exhibit is not only a great memorial for all of the individuals who perished during or volunteered with recovery efforts in the aftermath of the attacks in 2001, but it is also a tremendous source of education and inspiration for those too young to remember that day.
The exhibit was developed by the 9/11 Memorial and Museum and was made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy Demands Wisdom.
The exhibit will remain up inside the Library through Sept. 30. For questions or more information visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum website at 911memorial.org or email press@911memorial.org.
