Fire destroyed a small shed southwest of Emporia on Wednesday afternoon.
Following a report of a grass and shed fire, Emporia, Americus and Olpe firefighters were dispatched to 1474 Road E about three miles southwest of Emporia shortly after 4 pm, although Americus and Olpe crews were canceled before reaching the scene. The shed was reported as downed around 4:30 pm.
Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage tells KVOE News a controlled burn was underway when some embers blew onto the shed, catching it on fire. There was nothing of value inside the building. No injuries were reported.
