The 2021 Lyon County budget is set to be republished following action by County Commissioners Thursday morning.
The commission approved the republication after receiving a request to increase budget authority in the Road and Bridge and multi-year funds for the current year budget. The increases will see multi-year — specifically capital outlay — increase by $814,577 from just over $2.5 million to $3.4 million.
The Road and Bridge fund will be increased by $700,000 from $6 million to $6.7 million. Lyon County Controller Dan Williams says the increases are simply a precautionary measure to ensure the county is prepared in the event there are any unexpected expenditures that arise through the remainder of the year.
The county will hold a budget hearing on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 10 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse. The increased budget authority comes two weeks after commissioners finalized the 2022 fiscal year budget.
In other business, commissioners discussed the 2021 compliance and 2020 ratio study reports with County Appraiser Ryan Janzen. According to Janzen the county was found to be in 100 percent compliance.
On the ratio report, the county had a residential property ratio of 95.8 with a coefficient of dispersion of 12.9. Commercial properties had a ratio of 99.2 with a COD of 16.6. All of the results were well between the acceptable margins.
Separately commissioners also approved the purchase of vehicle parts from Traffic Control Services Inc. for a total of $9,982.36 for the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
The Lyon County Commission will hold a study session next Wednesday at 9 am to discuss the role of a county public information officer among other items. Commissioners will reconvene for their weekly action session next Thursday morning at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse.
