Enrollment is on the rise for USD 252 Southern Lyon County.
According to Superintendent Mike Argabright, the district saw an uptick of roughly 20 students between the fall 2020 and 2021 semesters. Argabright says the increase in enrollment was a welcomed surprise.
The enrollment trends were just one of many talking points for the USD 252 Board of Education during their regular meeting Wednesday evening. Another point of conversation was the district’s COVID-19 mitigation strategies.
According to Argabright, the board has not made any major alterations to its current list of COVID-19 protocols aside from adding the recent adjustments announced by Public Health last Friday into its plan. Argabright says the district’s policies have been beneficial so far this year and he anticipates they will continue to be so during homecoming activities later this year.
According to Argabright, the district will be returning to a more traditional Homecoming celebration, albeit with COVID-19 policies in place. With the cancelation of last year’s homecoming activities, Argabright says they are anticipating a large number of alumni returning this year.
Homecoming activities are scheduled for Oct. 1 at Olpe and Oct. 8 at Hartford.
In other business Wednesday, the board also discussed bond information, early childhood grants and discussed a new girls golf program. The USD 252 Board will reconvene for its monthly meeting in October.
