The Allen Veterans Fall Festival is coming Saturday, and there is literally something for just about everybody on the schedule.
The activity list begins with a biscuits and gravy breakfast at the American Legion at 7 am and ends after dark with fireworks. In between, organizer Shelley Mann says there will be a special reenactment campground and a Wild West demonstration through the day — and “Gunsmoke” actor Buck Taylor, who played Newly, has signed one of the featured auction items.
There will be a flag-raising ceremony at the old school at 7:45 am, followed by registration for the ATV poker run at 8 with the run starting at 9 am. Craft vendors, food vendors, raffles and kids games will take place throughout the event. A car and motorcycle show runs from 10 am to 2 pm. A live chainsaw sculpture is also taking place, along with gunfight re-enactments, live music from Doc Hinck and tomahawk throwing before the fireworks.
