Besides the ongoing data updates from Public Health, the long-awaited dashboard from Newman Regional Health was unveiled Friday. Newman Regional Health’s data set currently involves the average daily number of hospitalizations, available bed space, COVID positives and their hospital locations, average wait for patient transfers and a number of hospitalized patients.
Newman Regional Health is currently averaging 23 daily hospitalizations, with 2 in ICU beds — and a daily average of two beds available. Most of the hospital’s current COVID cases, 14 or almost 74 percent, have come through ExpressCare, with two each from the emergency room and inpatient treatment and one from intensive care. The wait time for patient transfers ranges from 23 minutes to over 2.5 days. Newman Regional Health is the second area hospital to release its COVID-19 data, following Coffey Medical System. Both are planning weekly releases. Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka and Morris County Hospital in Council Grove have not announced plans for these specialized data sets, although they are becoming more common across Kansas as the pandemic continues.
