Celebrating recovery was the goal of a community activity put on by Corner House on Saturday.
The second Recovery in the Park event took place at Peter Pan Park, bringing an estimated 150 to 200 people to the event. Corner House peer mentor Quenton Criqui says, a recovering drug addict, says the path to recovery is really difficult if you’re going it alone.
Residents attending the event enjoyed free food and live music from three bands — Carving Canyons, Twisted Dragon and All From Nothing.
Saturday’s event also highlighted the work Corner House does to help people struggling with addiction, including alcohol and other drugs, as well as substance abuse prevention, inpatient and outpatient treatment for teenagers and adults and a referral program.
Corner House leaders say they want to make Recovery in the Park an annual event. More information about Corner House is available online at cornerhouseinc.org.
