USD 243 Lebo-Waverly has been working to find the source of a stubborn water leak near Waverly Grade School.
Well, the leak has turned into a break — apparently under the school. And it’s forced the school to close Monday.
Superintendent Corey Reece tells KVOE News the district had been working for “a while” to find a leak after it was evidenced in part by the school’s water bill. Repairs officially started over the weekend and took a turn before sunrise Monday.
Students from daycare to fifth grade will be out of school as a result. The goal is to build a temporary line Monday, finish the overall repairs this week and have everything back to normal by the upcoming weekend.
Reece says there does not appear to be much in the way of interior damage to the school. Reece believes school should return to normal Tuesday if everything goes as planned Monday.
