The United Way of the Flint Hills will be holding the first major event in its 2021 fundraising campaign Tuesday.
After having to cancel the official campaign kickoff last month due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, both United Way Director Mickey Edwards and 2021 Campaign Drive Chair Mike Argabright are excited for the drive to take place. Argabright says that to him, raising awareness of the needs and opportunities to assist others in the local community is an important piece of Tuesday’s food drive.
All donations collected during the drive will go to benefit United Way community partners within the local area. Edwards says in addition to non-perishable food items, their community partners are also in need of basic hygiene and cleaning supplies.
Due to the possibility of rainfall Tuesday, the United Way has slightly altered its location for the drive. The food drive will take place in front of the of the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building from 4:30 pm to 6 pm. Those wishing to donate to the food drive are asked to enter the fairgrounds from the 12th Ave. entrance and make their way to the front porch of the Anderson Building to drop off their donations.
