Educators across the country will have the opportunity to pull from nearly 150 years of collective knowledge thanks to a collaborative effort between the National Teachers Hall of Fame, Emporia State University, the ESU Teachers College and the College Football Playoff Foundation.
The four entities have partnered together to present a virtual roundtable discussion featuring the five members of the NTHF 2020 class. The roundtable discussion is one of the more popular events held as part of the hall’s annual induction week activities.
Despite COVID-19 postponing induction until next year, National Teachers Hall of Fame Director Carol Strickland says they did not want local educators to miss out on the opportunity to gain some insight and inspiration from the “best of the best” in education.
Strickland says the 90-minute conversation will cover a range of topics including some of the toughest challenges currently impacting the teaching profession.
The 2020 Hall of Fame class and roundtable panel includes:
Andrew Beiter of Springville, NY, who has spent 25 years in education and currently teaches eighth-grade social studies at Springville Middle School.
Thomas Knaab a K-4 Visual Arts Teacher from East Amherst, NY who has been teaching for 31 years.
Melissa Collins a second-grade teacher from Memphis Tennessee who has spent the past 21 years in education.
Donna Gradel a retired 10th through 12th-grade Environmental Science Teacher from Broken Arrow, OK, who taught for 33 years before her retirement.
Jamil Siddiqui a 9th to 12th-grade mathematics teacher in East Bridgewater, MA who has spent 26 years in education.
Anyone and everyone is invited to watch the roundtable discussion which begins at 4:30 pm Tuesday. Those interested in attending the virtual discussion can visit Emporia.edu/live and select the roundtable event.
If you are unable to tune into the discussion as it is happening, it will be archived for viewing at a later time.
