The Emporia High football team kicks off week 3 of the season Thursday night playing Topeka High in Topeka. Both teams are looking for their first win of the season. Emporia High Coach Keaton Tuttle hopes they can pick up where they left off at the end of last week’s game.
Emporia High senior quarterback Cam Geitz said last week was a confidence boost.
Sophomore defensive lineman Thai Iverson hopes they can combine the defensive play of week 1 with the play of the offense of week 2.
The kick-off from Hummer Sports Park in Topeka is set for 7 pm.
The rest of the area High School football teams play tomorrow night.
You can add another High School football division beginning next year. The Kansas State High School Activities Association board of directors approved a 6-man state championship.
There are 14 schools playing 6 man football in Kansas. There will need to be 24 schools total for the State Championship to be held. There are indications there will be 24 schools ready to play 6 man football next season. One area school that will be making the move to 6 man is Waverly. Coach Nick Fraenza is playing 8 man football with 10 players this season.
Waverly is off to a 2-0 start and plays Lebo Friday night.
