The Kansas City Royals rally came up short in a 12-10 loss to the Oakland A’s Wednesday night.
The Royals trailed 5-1 early and 12-6 going to the 8th inning. They scored 3 runs in the 8th and had the bases loaded in the 9th when the game ended.
Salvador Perez hit his 44th home run of the season, a solo home run in the 5th. Perez is now 1 home run shy of the record for home runs by a catcher set by Johnny Bench in 1970.
Andrew Benintendi remains hot he was 5 for 5 with 4 RBI.
The Royals and A’s wrap up their 3 game series Thursday afternoon. Daniel Lynch will be the starting pitcher for the Royals with the first pitch set for 1:10 pm. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
The Royals Wednesday also placed pitchers Mike Minor and Wade Davis on the injured list.
They called up pitchers Scott Blewett and Gabe Speier from Omaha to take their spots on the roster.
