Hospital bed space remains at a premium for people needing inpatient care at Newman Regional Health.
Just two beds — intensive care and non-ICU alike — were open on a daily average between Sept. 1-14, according to the hospital’s now-weekly COVID-19 data set. That’s the same number as the first release a week ago reflecting data from Aug. 25 to Sept. 7.
The daily average of overall COVID-positive traffic was at 19 between Aug. 25-Sept. 7, with 14 of the 19 coming through ExpressCare. Between Sept. 1-14, the daily average was eight — of which three came from ExpressCare, two each were from the emergency room or inpatient care and one was from the ICU.
Of the 28 hospitalized patients between July 1 and Sept. 14, 27 have been unvaccinated. Average wait times for patient transfers range from 16 minutes to 2.5 days, with a nearly 3.5-hour median wait time. The median is up an hour from the prior report.
