Ten people were taken to hospitals after a three-vehicle collision involving a minivan, semi and another vehicle in southeast Greenwood County on Sunday, although most of the injuries were apparently minor.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the minivan was westbound on US Highway 400 while the semi and third vehicle were eastbound on the highway. The minivan, driven by 40-year-old Douglas Coon of Wichita, apparently crossed the center line. Coon’s minivan hit the semi, driven by 59-year-old Tommy Posey of Miami, Oklahoma. The van then hit the third vehicle, driven by 19-year-old Tristen Fields of Springfield, Missouri.
Coon suffered suspected serious injuries and was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Six others in the van — five of them children under age 10 — were taken to Fredonia Regional with suspected minor injuries. Fields and two passengers were also taken to Fredonia Regional with potentially minor injuries. Posey was not hurt.
