Work continues to get the Plumb Place property ready for sale.
The Plumb Place Steering Committee, led by the United Way of the Flint Hills, is awaiting word on when the property will be listed for sale. However, the contents will be up for auction through J&D Auction Service on Oct. 2. Proceeds will serve as seed money for the new agency.
United Way Director Mickey Edwards says the Steering Committee is busy in other ways, notably determining exactly how a new agency will help women in crisis.
Having said that, Edwards says it’s too soon to say exactly what services will work through the new agency. When it shut down at the end of last year due to ongoing financial issues, Plumb Place was helping women through emergency and transitional housing, case management, counseling and job services. The Steering Committee is currently interviewing potential board members for the new entity that will help women in crisis.
