Lyon County’s overall coronavirus caseload has now surpassed 5,000 following Public Health’s latest data report.
Between Monday and Wednesday, the county had 89 new cases develop, bringing the overall total since late last March to 5,073. Of those cases, 65 were investigated by Lyon County Public Health. The other 24 were investigated by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment due to the recent strain on the Public Health disease investigation team.
Fifty-three recoveries were also reported causing the active case total to rise from 91 cases to 126.
Additional increases were noted in the county’s death count which rose by one to 89 and active hospitalizations which increased from seven to eight.
College-age students ages 18-23 continue to lead Lyon County’s overall caseload with 812 cases. Eleven cases are active in this age group. Children under age 18 now number 564 total cases with 27 active. For adults, the 30-39 age group now has the most total cases at 745 followed by the 40-49 age group with 706.
