Available bed space increased — slightly — at Newman Regional Health from week to week.
Newman Regional Health announced an average of four available beds per day, based on COVID-19 and non-COVID traffic between Sept. 15-21. That’s improved from two beds per day on average between Aug. 25 and Sept. 14.
The daily average of overall COVID-positive traffic was identical to what was reported Sept. 1-14, with two cases each coming from ExpressCare and the emergency room, three from inpatient traffic and one from intensive care.
Patient transfer times shifted over the last week, ranging from an hour to 22 hours with a median of just over an hour. For Sept. 1-14, wait times ranged from 16 minutes to over 2.5 days with a median of about 3.5 hours.
Of the hospital’s 34 hospitalized COVID patients dating back to July 1, 32 have been unvaccinated.
