An Emporia man has been arrested in relation to two separate incidents that allegedly occurred over the past week.
20-year-old Ray Anthony Kolee Henderson Lenox of Emporia was apprehended in the 1100 block of Merchant Street following a brief foot pursuit around 3 pm Thursday.
The arrest was made in connection to a reported aggravated assault on the ESU campus around 11:30 am Thursday. According to a news release from ESU Media Relations Director Gwen Larson, Police and Safety responded to the walking trails located on the campus north of Interstate 35 for a report of an individual with a knife.
The victim reported they were walking the trails when an individual, believed to be Lenox, allegedly approached them, brandished the weapon and then walked away. Lenox also reportedly tried to enter a locked police vehicle before leaving the scene.
Emporia Police Cpt. Lisa Hayes says Lenox was also a person of interest in a criminal threat case that occurred around 10 pm Saturday, Sept. 18. The Lyon County Emergency Communications Center reportedly received a 911 call from a male who stated he was going to “kill, murder or harm the police at the Emporia station” and he was going to “shoot directly at one of the officers.”
Lenox has been arrested on suspicion of criminal threat in the Sept. 18 case and suspicion of aggravated assault, flee & elude and possession of marijuana in relation to Thursday’s incident. Formal charges are pending.
