New coronavirus cases increased in Lyon County, but not nearly to the level of recent reports.
On Monday, Lyon County Public Health announced 15 new cases, well below the 89 announced last Wednesday and 54 mentioned Friday. Active cases remained flat at 127. Deaths were steady at 90 with one death awaiting final cause information from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
Active hospitalizations, which had been as high as eight last week, dipped to four.
Lyon County is now tied for 16th overall in the state’s COVID-19 County Rankings after a 12th-place standing in vaccination rate (57 percent), 48th-place mark in cases per 100,000 (31) and 44th-place rank in tests per 100,000 (499). Other area counties:
*Chase County: 47th overall (76th in vaccination rate, 64th in cases, 13rd in tests)
*Coffey County: 28th overall (28th in vaccination rate, 91st in cases, 7th in tests)
*Greenwood County: Tied for 16th (38th in vaccination rate, 21st in cases, 45th in tests)
*Morris County: 18th overall (13rd in vaccination rate, 46th in cases, 48th in tests)
*Osage County: 31st overall (35th in vaccination rate, 75th in cases, 19th in tests)
*Wabaunsee County: 65th overall (57th in vaccination rate, 30th in cases, 87th in tests)
Brown County has the top ranking as of Monday. Chatauqua County is 105th or last.
