An investigation is underway after a garage fire at a west Emporia home Monday evening.
Emporia Fire was called to 2402 West View Drive shortly after 7:30 pm for a reported garage fire. Upon arriving, firefighters observed heavy smoke coming from the garage and found flames upon entry according to Battalion Chief Ryan Conley.
Conley says crews had the flames extinguished quickly with damage being limited to the garage itself. One resident was home at the time of the fire and immediately took measures to prevent the flames from spreading and called 911.
Conley commended the individual for their quick action.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. No injuries were reported.
