An Allen man was hurt in a head-on crash in northwest Lyon County on Tuesday.
Lyon County Sergeant Zach Shafer says the wreck happened in the 3300 block of Road G, about a mile east of Bushong, shortly after 2 pm. Steve Pio, 73, was driving a pickup truck northbound on G when he crossed left of center and crashed into a southbound pickup driven by 51-year-old Jeff Houck of Americus.
Pio was taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka for suspected serious injuries. Houck was not hurt. Pio was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, while Houck was.
Road dust is listed as a contributing factor to the crash, which is still under investigation. Lyon County deputies, Americus first responders and Emporia-Lyon County EMS all responded.
4:40 pm Tuesday: Traffic back to normal north of Americus following vehicle collision
Traffic has been restored north of Americus following a two-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon.
Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch says the crash site near the intersection of Roads 330 and G is back open to thru traffic as of 4:30 pm after two pickups collided in the area earlier in the day. Koelsch says one person was taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka with suspected serious injuries.

3:11 pm Tuesday: At least one person hurt after wreck north of Americus
Lyon County authorities say at least one person was hurt after a pair of pickup trucks collided about six miles north of Americus on Tuesday.
The wreck happened near the intersection of Roads 330 and G. Undersheriff John Koelsch says one person was taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka with suspected serious injuries. Word on additional hospital transports has not been announced.
The area around the crash site is now closed to traffic. Crash reconstruction will begin soon as the investigation begins.
