City commissioners spent the majority of their recent action meeting in executive session Wednesday.
Prior to the session, commissioners approved a trio of action items including the reappointment of Municipal Court Judge Ted Hollembeak whose four year term was set to conclude in November. With commission approval, Hollembeak will continue in his current role for another four years.
In a separate, yet related item, commissioners approved an agreement for Hollembeaks continued services. The agreement includes a compensation package of $63,466 and Hollembeak must maintain his license to practice law in good standing and keep himself informed of all laws, statutes and limitations pertaining to his position.
The appointment of members to the Emporia Human Relations Commission and a proclamation recognizing Oct. 3-9 as fire prevention week also saw approval.
Following the aforementioned items, commissioners excused themselves to executive session for nearly two hours for non-elected personnel matters.
The Emporia City Commission then adjourned the meeting until 1:15 pm next Tuesday inside the municipal courtroom at White Auditorium for an expected executive session.
