After a nearly-dry month, Mother Nature looks to close out September and get into October with some damp conditions.
Rain chances are officially on the increase, and we have numerous opportunities for rainfall through Sunday afternoon. The best chances for showers and storms is extended from Thursday through Saturday afternoon.
The National Weather Service says 1- to 2-inch rainfall totals could be widespread between Thursday and Saturday with isolated higher amounts. Severe weather is not expected.
So far, September has not had much in the way of rain. The KVOE studios received almost 4 inches of rain this month, but all of that came between Sept. 2-4. No area counties are in official drought status through the US Drought Monitor, but Lyon, Chase, Morris and Wabaunsee counties were placed in a drought watch by the Kansas Water Office in early September.
