Enrollment is up at Flint Hills Technical College.
Overall headcount was up nearly 12 percent from 1,222 to 1,365 and full-time equivalent numbers were up almost 2 percent from 2020, just shy of 600 total. President Caron Daugherty says those numbers indicate students are easing back into college after the pandemic.
Vice President for Student Services Lisa Kirmer says the enrollment uptick demonstrates students believe the college is a safe place to be during the pandemic.
Several programs, including dental hygiene, welding technology and business technology, are at capacity. The college also highlighted a 98 percent average placement rate for students.
Daugherty says the college is looking at possibly adding new afternoon or evening time slots and other ways to meet the demand for programs.
