Some parts of the KVOE listening area enjoyed moderate rainfall Saturday.
*KVOE studios: 0.40 inches
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.74 inches
Other area totals are pending.
September was extremely dry across the area, although the official stats may not offer a true indication of the dryness. The KVOE studios got almost four inches of rain between Sept. 2-4 — and then got nothing until 0.10 inches of rainfall Thursday. No area counties are in official drought status through the US Drought Monitor, but Lyon, Chase, Morris and Wabaunsee counties were placed in a drought watch by the Kansas Water Office in early September.
