Since Newman Therapy Services moved to its new home on the hospital grounds in late August, Director David Crotts has been more than pleased with the new space. And at Thursday’s formal ribbon-cutting and open house, he says a lot of patients share the same feeling.
The relocation and renovation of the hospital’s former emergency room was funded by the 2020 Denim and Diamonds campaign, bond funds and a specific grant to the pediatric therapy gym from the Emporia Community Foundation’s 79 Fund. Crotts commended the hospital’s administrative team for recognizing the therapy department’s needs at its old space, 1024 Chestnut, and acting to resolve them with the new facility. He also thanked the facilities department for its work in creating the space for therapy patients and staff.
Operated by Mathis Rehab Centers, Newman Therapy Services offers outpatient physical, speech, occupational and specialty.
