The Plumb Place Steering Committee took another step in possibly restoring services to women in crisis situations this weekend, but it was a sobering process.
All the contents inside the former Plumb Place home for women in crisis situations were put up for auction as the Plumb Place Steering Committee works to restore services to women in need.
Proceeds from Saturday’s auction will serve as seed money for a revised agency after Plumb Place ended operations at the end of last year due to longstanding financial issues.
J and D Auction Services handled the auction proceedings, which involved hundreds of items ranging from glassware, office supplies and cookware to refrigerators, TVs, furniture and items owned by the Plumb family.
Word on when the building and property will go up for sale is currently pending.
6:30 am Saturday: Plumb Place contents up for auction Saturday
As part of the plan to develop a new agency for helping area women in crisis, the Plumb Place Steering Committee is holding an auction for all the items connected to Plumb Place on Saturday.
J and D Auction is handling the proceedings with hundreds of items available, including furniture, refrigerators, TVs, appliances, tools, cookware, glassware, office supplies, art, collectibles and items owned by Preston Plumb.
Proceeds from Saturday’s auction will serve as seed money for a revised agency after Plumb Place ended operations at the end of last year due to longstanding financial issues. Earlier this year, the Steering Committee recommended the sale of the Plumb Place building — with official approval coming from Lyon County District Court — as well as the auction of all contents inside. As part of those recommendations, the Steering Committee also said the Plumb Place nonprofit organization should not be dissolved because it could be revived and maintain the same general mission as before, even if it takes on a new name later.
The auction begins at 10 am at Plumb Place, 224 East Sixth.
